Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk (TLKM) has posted revenue amounting to IDR 64.02 trillion in the first half of 2017, growing 13.4 percent over the same period last year. Data, internet and IT services businesses have contributed 42.4 percent to total revenue, up 19.8 percent yoy.
Harry M Zen, Finance Director of TLKM, said that the revenue from data, internet and IT services reached IDR 27.12 trillion while cellular voice and sms revenues reached IDR 26.02 trillion. The company’s EBITDA rose by 15.4 percent to IDR 33.23 trillion while its net profit grew by 21.9 percent to IDR 12.10 trillion.
The increased revenues are in line with the increasing number of mobile subscribers and a surge in mobile data traffic of 118.7 percent. The total number of cellular subscribers currently reaches 178 million, an increase of 13.1 percent over the same period last year.
TLKM also recorded an increase in the number of Telkomsel Flash mobile broadband subscribers by 63.9 percent to 81.72 million users. Meanwhile, the number of fixed broadband subscribers rose by 4.7 percent to 4.52 million users.
Telkomsel, a subsidiary of TLKM, posted revenue growth of 11.9 percent to IDR 45.99 trillion. Its EBITDA reached IDR 27.19 trillion, increasing by 14 percent over the same period last year. Its net profit also grew by 15.6 percent to IDR 15.50 trillion.
Revenue contribution of the digital business sector grew by 26.9 percent to IDR 18.07 trillion. “This was supported by the expansion and strengthening of Telkomsel’s network with 3G/4G services through the addition of 17,538 new BTS,” said Harry. Total BTS at the end of the first half of 2017 amounted to 146,571 BTS, where about 65.7 percent is able to provide 3G/4G services. (*)
