Astratel Nusantara (Astra Infra), a subsidiary of Astra International Tbk (ASII), has commenced full operation of Jombang-Mojokerto toll road, East Java for 40.5 km. This toll road is part of the Trans-Java Toll along more than 640 km which is targeted to be completed by 2018.
Joko Widodo, President of Indonesia, said infrastructure development such as toll road is fundamental to boost Indonesia’s competitiveness. “If it is not immediately built, transportation costs become expensive and we cannot compete with other countries,” said Joko Widodo in the inauguration of Jombang-Mojokerto toll road on Sunday
Jombang-Mojokerto toll road concession holder is Marga Harjaya Infrastruktur (MHI), a subsidiary of Astra Infra. The toll road is operated gradually, for section one is along 14.7 km in October 2014, section three along 5 km in November 2016, as well as section two and four each along 19.9 km and 0.9 km operating in September 2017.
Wiwiek D Santoso, President Director of MHI, hopes that the operation of Jombang-Mojokerto toll road passing through 35 villages can increase economic growth in Jombang and Mojokerto. This toll road has four toll gates, namely Jombang, Bandar, West Mojokerto, and Mojokerto toll gates.
Astra Infra is targeting to own 500 km toll road by 2020. Until September 2017, the company has 353 km of toll road, consisting of Tangerang-Merak, Kunciran-Serpong, Jombang-Mojokerto, Semarang-Solo, Serpong-Balaraja and Cikopo-Palimanan. (*)
