Bond Market in East Asia grew 3.3 percent to USD 11 T in the second quarter of 2017. This was driven by Chinese bond market which contributed 65.9 percent or USD 7.2 trillion from the bond market value in East Asia.
Asia Development Bank (ADB) said in Asia Bond Monitor report that yields in several East Asian countries increased in the period from June 1 to August 15, 2017, as economic outlook in East Asia and global improved. “The economic outlooks in developing countries are growing stronger while the financial risk declines,” said Yasuyuki Sawada, Chief Economist of ADB.
The sustainable economic growth reflects prudent policies and strong economic fundamentals. However, East Asian countries should be aware of the risks from the policy adjustments of The Fed that may affect global liquidity and asset valuation. (*)
